Wildcats win twice in districts
TUSHKA—Wister advanced to the championship game of the Class A fall baseball district tournament with a pair of wins Wednesday.
The Wildcats (13-7) opened with a 10-3 win over Crowder before trampling Tushka, 14-1.
Howe was eliminated in two games. The Lions lost the opener to Tushka, 8-6, then were defeated by Crowder, 7-6.
In Wister’s win over Tushka, Trey Krebbs threw a one-hitter. He gave up one run, earned, struck out four and walked four.
Landon Thornburg homered for the Wildcats and was 3-4 with two RBI and two runs, Isaac Carroll had a 3-4 game with two RBI and a run, Krebbs went 3-3 with a RBI and Matthew Holzhammer doubled and finished 1-2 with two runs and a RBI.
In the win over Crowder, the Wildcats trailed early before tying the game in the bottom of the third with two runs. Wister scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good and added four more in the sixth inning.
Thornburg was the winning pitcher, going 5.2 innings and allowing three hits and two runs, one earned, with six strikeouts and three walks. Holzhammer finished up, pitching the final 1.1 innings and giving up two hits and one run, earned, with three strikeouts.
Leadoff hitter Kadin Repass doubled and was 2-4 with two RBI and a run, Colten Terry doubled and finished 2-4 with two runs and a RBI, Thornburg doubled and went 2-3 with two RBI and a run, Kaden McBeth had a 2-4 game with a pair of RBI, Will Hammons went 2-4 with two runs and Holzhammer doubled and was 1-1 with two RBI and three walks.
