Wilburton takes win from Howe

HOWE—Howe managed only two hits Tuesday in a 5-2 loss to Wilburton in 2A-5 play.

The win improves the Lady Diggers to 13-6 overall, 9-0 in district play and completes the season sweep over the Lady Lions. Howe falls to 15-7 and 6-2.

Wilburton jumped ahead 3-0 after two innings. Howe scored both its runs in the bottom of the fourth, but the Lady Diggers added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to seal the win.

Howe’s runs came on a two-run home run by Makaleah Lewis. She went 1-3 with two RBI and a run. Dani Collins got the Lady Lions’ other hit and was 1-3.

Lewis took the loss pitching for Howe. She went all seven innings, giving up 14 hits and five runs, all earned, with three strikeouts and four walks.
