Third time the charm for Spiro's boys

OKEMAH—The third time was the charm for Spiro’s boys Friday night in the Class 3A area championship game against Roland.

After losing twice against the Rangers in NOAA play, the Bulldogs defeated Roland 69-58 to win the area championship and advance to the state tournament.

The state tournament will be played in the Oklahoma City area. Location, time and opponent will be announced by the OSSAA.

Sixth-ranked Spiro improves to 22-4 while third-ranked Roland drops to 24-3.

The Bulldogs led by eight at the end of the first quarter and increased their lead to 39-19 at halftime. Roland went on a 22-13 run in the fourth quarter to make the final score closer.

Sixth-ranked Spiro improves to 22-4. The Bulldogs were undefeated in postseason play. Tylor Perry led the Bulldogs with 27 points, Presley Kindrix scored 17 and Ty Clayton finished with 10.

The third-ranked Rangers, 24-4, also lost to Hugo Saturday night, 53-43, in the area consolation championship to miss the state tournament.
