OU didn’t need to sweat out beating OSU
STILLWATER – For the previous three games for seventh-ranked Oklahoma coming into their 2019 Bedlam showdown against 21st-ranked Oklahoma State, the Sooners had to win rather dramatically to take a three-game winning streak into Bedlam.
In their first game after losing their only loss of the season to Kansas State on Sept. 28, the Sooners had to get an interception by cornerback Parnell Motley to preserve a 42-41 home win over Iowa State on Nov. 9 at Owen Field.
The following week, OU needed a school-record 28-point comeback to defeat Baylor 34-31, also capped by a late interception by linebacker Nix Bonito, on Nov. 16 in Waco, Texas.
In their pre-Bedlam Senior Night 28-24 victory over Texas Christian University on Nov. 23, the Sooners also needed a late interception, this one by nickle back Brendan Radley-Hiles, to nip the Horned Frogs.
However, for the first time since OU’s 52-14 home rout of West Virginia on Oct. 19 in Norman, the Sooners didn’t need to sweat one out.
The Sooners never trailed and scored the final 14 points of the game to break a close 20-16 game to win going away 34-16.
