Lady Lions clinch state trip

CHECOTAH—Howe’s girls reserved another spot in the Class 2A state tournament Friday with a 67-52 win over Chouteau in the area championship.

The second-ranked Lady Lions improved to 24-2 while ninth-ranked Chouteau drops to 22-5.

The game was tight through three quarters and tied at 50 early in the fourth quarter before Howe went on a 12-1 run to build the lead.

Jalei Oglesby led Howe with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Sydnie Womack added 13 points and five steals while Zoe Nation grabbed eight rebounds.

Howe will play in the state tournament Thursday in the Oklahoma City area. Opponent, time and location will be announced by the OSSAA. Chouteau plays in the area consolation championship Saturday night against Oklahoma Union with the winner also advancing to the state tournament.
