Hodgen, Pocola advance to championship game
The Hodgen and Pocola girls advanced to the championship game of the 2019 junior high basketball LeFlore County Tournament with wins Thursday.
The teams play at 4 p.m. at Carl Albert State College for the title. The Howe and Whitesboro girls play at 1:30 p.m. in the third-place games.
Pocola defeated Howe, 53-33, while Hodgen downed Whitesboro, 44-29, to advance.
In other games for the girls, Shady Point defeated Panama 43-26, and Fanshawe eliminated Poteau, 32-21. Shady Point and Fanshawe play in the fifth-place game Friday at 5 p.m. at Talihina. In the consolation championship Wister battles LeFlore at 1:30 p.m.
The boys’ semifinals are Friday at Talihina. Talihina plays LeFlore in the first game at 6:30 p.m. with Spiro and Poteau hooking up at 7:45 p.m. The championship game is Saturday at 5:15 p.m. The third-place game is at 2:45 p.m.
In Thursday’s games Howe handled Hodgen, 39-30, and Arkoma took a 41-30 victory over Heavener. Howe and Arkoma play in the fifth-place game Friday at 5:15 p.m. In the consolation championship Pocola goes up against Fanshawe at 2:45 p.m.
