CASC SOEA claims numerous awards at state conference

The Carl Albert State College chapter of Student Oklahoma Education Association (SOEA), recently attended the state conference in Tulsa and won first-place awards in four out of five events from the conference’s award ceremony.

On March 1, the CASC chapter joined other SOEA members from across the state to provide a make-over for Robertson Elementary School. The next day, the group attended professional development workshops throughout the day and gathered with their peers for an awards ceremony that afternoon.

“The climax of the weekend was the awards ceremony,” said Susan Hill, CASC instructor and SOEA advisor. “As a first-year chapter, we were hoping to win one award. We were extremely surprised and excited to leave the event with first-place trophies in four out of the five events.”

The group was awarded with the following accolades:

Outstanding Chapter Leader-- Raven Cheney, Chapter President

Outstanding Chapter Member--  Annabell Jackson

Outstanding Chapter Advisor--  Susan Hill

Ultimate Chapter Award-- Top Chapter in the state based on activities and digital scrapbook

“Our chapter is so thankful for the support of our CASC family and the LeFlore County retired educators,” Hill said. “Our students have worked incredibly hard this past year, and I am so proud to see them recognized for their work and dedication. We are already making plans for a great 2019 – 2020.”
