Obituary for Maree Yates
POCOLA--Maree Lucille Yates, 93, of Pocola was born Feb. 13, 1925 in the Glendale community to Grover and Agnes (Cauthron) Caughern and passed away Jan. 2, 2019 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Funeral service is Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Caughern officiating.
Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Maree was a housewife and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Pocola. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Maree was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two daughters Ronetta Cleland and husband Tommy of Muldrow, and Susan Shatley of Midwest City; three sons Ron Calhoun and wife Marie of Heavener, Jim Calhoun of Pocola, and Dwight Calhoun and wife Linda of Greenwood, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Yates; one grandson, Jason Shatley; one great-grandson, Blake Loman; one sister, Neeley Delaphine; and three brothers Odie, Marshall and Gerald Caughern.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.
Viewing is Thursday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
