Obituary for Harold 'Joe' Underwood
Harold Dean “Joe” Underwood, 71, of Heavener was born May 18, 1948, in Wilburton to Cecil and Nadine (Essman) Underwood and passed away Aug. 12, 2019, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Funeral services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charley Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Hontubby Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Joe was of the Christian faith and loved hunting and camping at Wister Lake. He also loved spending time with family, friends and grandkids and loved country music. Joe had a heart of gold and never closed his door to anyone.
Surviving family members are three daughters Geraldine Page of Heavener, Donna McDaniel of Heavener and Nellie Reed of Howe; two sons David Tolleson of Heavener and Jimmy Tolleson of Heavener; two sisters Geraldine Stanley of Oak Grove, Louisiana and Kathy Hollan of Black Fork, Arkansas; two brothers Bobby Underwood of Bates, Arkansas and Ceciel Underwood (Butch) of Heavener; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Nadine Underwood; his wife Dorothy Underwood; one daughter, Helen Foster; three brothers Carol Gene Underwood, Donald Ray Underwood and Jerry Lee Underwood; and one great-grandchild, Billy Joe Underwood.
Pallbearers are Bryce Tolleson, Brayden Tolleson, Justin Page, Cris Grey, Jay Stanley and Landon Reagain. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Underwood, Joe Lee Braziel, Ricky W. Brown Sr., Chevy Reagain, Andrew Hollan and Dusty Hollan.
Viewing is Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
