Week 1 football games for LeFlore County teams got off to an early start Thursday.
Panama defeated Central Sallisaw, 22-13, and Talihina lost to the Poteau JV team 43-28.
Action continues with three more games Friday night. The top game is again at Costner Stadium with the 1-0 Pirates hosting defending Arkansas state champion Shiloh Christian, while Spiro entertains Hartshorne in the opener for both teams and Pocola seeks to go to 2-0 with a game at Hackett, Arkansas.

Poteau avenged one of its two regular season losses from last year with a 35-28 win over Bishop Kelley last week. The Pirates get a shot at avenging its second loss from last year against the Saints, which won, 34-28.
Poteau visits Alma, Arkansas next week before having a bye the next week prior to opening district play.
Last year, Pocola lost to Hackett in a shootout, 68-42, so the Indians will hope to slow down the Hornets this year.
The final game of the night has Spiro opening the post-Chris Bunch era with a game against Hartshorne.
Heavener has a bye this week and visits Valliant next week.
