The Heavener City Council conducted business in a rapid fashion in their meeting Thursday, adjourning after only 25 minutes.
Present were Mayor Max Roberts, along with Council members Melinda Ballantine, Joey Clubb, Marvin Meredith and Jim Roll.
After approving the minutes from the previous meeting and the financial report, the Council approved financing for the new firetruck.
The Council also approved buying new walkie talkies and a repeater for the City workers at a price that will not exceed $8,000. This is believed to improve communications among the workers.
The Council also agreed to make a 1991 GMC pumper truck as surplus property. The plan was to sell it to the Hodgen Fire Department, but would require sealed bids.
The Council decided to give it the Hodgen as the truck will be available if necessary.
Police chief Ty Armstrong said canine officer Todd Atkins and his dog won first place in a competition among some 14 counties.
