Signal lights and safety gates will be installed at the railroad crossing on Hodgen Road near Heavener.
LefLore County commissioners approved an agreement Monday with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for the safety improvements.
The county will pay 10 percent, or $28,000, of the cost of the signal lights. KCS railroad will pay $16,800 toward the project and ODOT will pay the remainder of the costs.
Commissioners also approved a lease-purchase agreement with Chief Fire and Safety for self-contained breathing apparatus for the Hogeye Free Department. The cost is $553 per month for four of the units.
The board approved a bid notice of $4,528 for sale of property on old Highway 112 east of the Poteau River bridge.
A 1997 ford one-ton pickup was declared surplus and commissioners approved a resolution to seek sealed bids for it. Chairman Craig Olive said the vehicle currently is not in working order.
The District Attorney’s Office was given the go-ahead to dispose of 19 items of surplus property.
Julie Dale was approved as a receiving officer for the county assessor.
Several yearly service agreements were approved for the county Health Department.
