4A, 2A state tournaments start Thursday

The Class 4A and 2A state baseball tournaments begin Thursday in Shawnee and Oklahoma City.

Poteau is competing in the Class 4A state tournament at Shawnee. This is the Pirates’ fifth state trip to state. Poteau (27-11) is playing Heritage Hall (26-5) at 10 a.m. at Shawnee High School.

The winner of that game plays the Marlow/Berryhill winner 11 a.m. Friday, also at Shawnee High School.

Howe is making its first trip to the baseball state tournament. The Lions (30-6) play Christian Heritage (27-6) in the opening round of the Class 2A state tournament at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City.

The winner goes against the Hartshorne/Dale winner 2 p.m. Friday at Dolese Park.
