Navajo beats Wister in quarterfinals

SHAWNEE – Navajo scored 14 runs in the top of the second inning to take control of the game and eventually defeat Wister, 27-15, in a Class 3A quarterfinal game in the slow pitch softball state tournament.

Wister finishes with a 29-11 record. Navajo lost in the semifinals to Calera, 13-12.

Kourtney Donaho homered twice and was 3-3 with three RBI and three runs, Hattie Pate went 3-4 with a run, Hope Gotes homered in a 2-3 game with three RBI and two runs, Jaelyn Covey finished 2-4 with two RBI and two runs and Jordan Makovy homered and was 1-4 with three RBI and two runs.
