WISTER – Red Oak scored the winning run in the seventh inning to defeat Wister, 5-4, Monday as both teams tuned up for the state tournament Thursday.
Wister, ranked fourth in Class A, is 26-5 and opens with Sterling in the Class A state tournament at Shawnee High School Thursday at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score before Red Oak answered.
Wister used Connar Hall and Landon Donaho on the mound. Hall went three innings, giving up one hit and three runs with three strikeouts and six walks. Donaho pitched four innings and allowed three hits and two runs with three strikeouts and five walks.
Riley Crane went 3-3 for the Wildcats with two RBI while Matt Holzhammer homered and went 2-4 with two RBI and a run.
