Obituary for James Roberts

James Richard “Jimmy” Roberts, 59, of Heavener (formerly of Panama) was born Nov. 22, 1961 in Poteau to Wayne and Margie (Crenshaw) Roberts and passed away April 12, 2021 in Heavener.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kane Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Jimmy was a longtime resident of the area and a rancher. He loved fishing, watching all sporting events, especially the ones where his grandchildren were in, WWE wrestling, and helping people when in need. Jimmy enjoyed working with his brother, Darrell on the farm. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be dearly missed by all whom loved and knew him.

He is survived by three daughters Charity Slone and husband Timmy of Poteau, Jennifer French and husband Jake of Cameron, and Alisha Springwater and husband Jake of Roland; one son Shane Johnson and wife Lee of Oklahoma City; two sisters Melva Kirkley and husband Bob of Stigler, and Teresa Israel of Poteau; one brother Darrell Roberts and wife Debbie of Hodgen;

12 grandchildren Zack Timms and wife Charlea, Chance Timms and Shadie, Tustin Timms,

Charlee Martin, Megan French, Parker Cooper, Jett Hetherington, GreenLee French, Rayna, Kambri, and Draden Taylor, and Cash Springwater; two great-grandchildren Brady and Avery; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of many friends

He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Margie Roberts; the mother of his children, Lisa Benson Roberts; and one brother, Ronald Eugene Roberts.

Viewing is from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Zach Timms, Chance Timms, Tustin Timms, Parker Cooper, Jett Hetherington and Cash Springwater.
