The morning blog 2-20-2021

And a top of the old morning to you. Today is Feb. 20, the 51st day of 2021. There are 314 days left in the year.

First, some good news. Today’s temperatures are not forecast to drop below the freezing line, which is, of course, 32 degrees. We lost a lot of snow and ice yesterday, hopefully we will lose more today.

Coronavirus cases remain lower than over the past few months. In Friday’s report, the county only had 19 new cases. Sweetish. Active cases have dropped to 145, it wasn’t that long ago that active cases were in the 300s.

The basketball playoffs resume Saturday with regional play for the Class A and B teams. The 4A, 3A and 2A teams start district tournaments Monday and Tuesday.

The Thunder got thumped at Milwaukee Friday as the Bucks snapped a five-game losing streak.

The Kiamichi Tech’s Practical Nursing program has been ranked as the sixth best LPN/LVN program in the Southwest region of the United States for the year 2020.

The Talihina Chamber of Commerce will host its annual meeting 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kiamichi Technology Center, Talihina campus.

Private funeral services will be held for Jeannie Sue Scarberry, who passed away Feb. 18 in Fort Smith.

Private services will also be held for Roy Postell Sr., who passed away Feb. 14.
