Camelia Luman

Camelia O. (Steelman) Luman, 97, of Heavener, was born May 28, 1923 in Reichert to John Richard and Eliza Ann (White) Steelman and passed from this life Jan. 11, 2021 in Heavener.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church in Heavener with Dr. Jeff Beshears, Bro. Paul Puckett, and Bro. Chad (Luman) Loper officiating. Burial will follow in Reichert Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Camelia was a longtime resident of the area, a retired assembly line worker for Hunt & Wesson Cannery. Camelia also was an Avon representative, worked at Heavener Cleaners, Hamlin manufacturing in Poteau, and a trailer manufacturing company in Pocola, Oklahoma. She also worked for the Choctaw Election Board. Camelia was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Choctaw Nation, and Rebekah’s Lodge. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by many.

Surviving family members are two sons Bill Luman of Heavener, and Ray Luman and wife Pam of Wister; one sister, Ida Bell Moody, of Modesto, California; five grandchildren Chad (Luman) Loper and wife Kelly of Wister, Shana King and husband Tim of Lexington, Delana Ester and husband Dustin of Heavener, Nathan Luman and wife Abbey of McKinney, and Candace Luman of Justin; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Estes Luman; one son, Estes Leon Luman; one grandson, Dwight Luman; six brothers Hershel, Merrel, Delbert, Finis, Chief and J.L. Steelman; and two sisters, Esther Ryburn and Pauline Rex.

Pallbearers are Chad (Luman) Loper, Tyler Ester, Logan Ester, Nathan Luman, Seth Covey and Tim King.

Viewing is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
