County sets another record for new cases

LeFlore County set another daily record of coronavirus cases in Friday’s report by the Oklahoma Department of Health and a Talihina man has died from complications due to the virus.

The deceased was a male in the 65-and-over group. He is the 32nd LeFlore County resident to die from complications due to the virus and the seventh with a Talihina address.


Spiro had 20 new cases, Poteau 16, Howe 13, Pocola 12, Heavener and Wister eight, Talihina six, Panama five, Bokoshe four, Arkoma three, Cameron two and Shady Point one.

The 98 new cases broke a record of 85 set Dec. 31. The county has had 426 new cases in the last week, an average of 60.8 per day.

LeFlore County now has 528 active cases, up from 494 Thursday. The county has had 4,006 cases with 3,486 recoveries.
