WISTER – Clyde Steelman Jr., 77, of Wister, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at his home and was born in Haw Creek to Clyde Sr. and Marie (Davis) Steelman.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Church Youth Building with Phil McGehee and Joshua Effinger officiating. Interment will follow at Reichert Cemetery, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
He started logging right after high school for about 15 years. Clyde graduated from OBU with a Bachelor of Arts. He began pastoring at Holson Valley Baptist Church in 1976 and pastored at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister for 41½ years. Clyde was clerk for LeFlore Baptist Association, was on the Board of Directors for the Southern Baptist Convention and Oklahoma Baptist University.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie (Williams); daughters Teresa and Dennis Shoup of Poteau, and Carolyn and Buddy Bullard of Wister; grandchildren Ryan and JoAnna Shoup of Wister, Tyler and Ashleigh Shoup of Cameron, Jacob and Randa Watts, Jon Watts, Cody Bullard and Corey Bullard, all of Wister; great grandchildren Piper Shoup, Zakree, Gracie Mae, Ben and Annie Watts of Wister, Jaxon Hill, Wyatt, Lilly and Journey Shoup, all of Cameron; sisters and brothers-in-law Naomi Cundiff of Clute, Texas, and Regina and Dean Rowland of Ozark, Arkansas; brother and sister-in-law, Butch and Emma Steelman of Haw Creek; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Keith Steelman.
Pallbearers are his grandsons.
Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
