Poteau man in critical condition after accident

A Poteau male is in critical condition after an auto accident Sunday morning on Highway 43 approximately eight miles east of Stringtown.

James Clayton, 75, of Poteau, was driving a 2011 Subaru when his car departed the road to the right, returned to the roadway, then went left of center and struck a 2017 Ford truck driven by Brady Bishop of Kaufman, Texas.

Clayton was transported by Mediflight to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa where he was admitted in critical condition with multiple injuries.

The five occupants of Bishop’s truck were not injured.
