Poteau and Spiro advanced in the Oklahoma state football playoffs with wins Friday night while Quinton eliminated Arkoma.
Poteau moved a step closer to repeating as Class 4A champions by defeating Skiatook, 52-27, while Spiro came from behind to win at Idabel, 14-12, and Quinton avenged an earlier loss to Arkoma with a 36-13 victory.
The Pirates are now 9-2 and have won nine in-a-row. Poteau is at home next week against Clinton, the first matchup for the two schools since the 2013 battle in the swap won by the Pirates, 10-7, in a 4A quarterfinal game. Poteau eventually reached the state finals that season before coming up short against Anadarko.
Spiro improves to 8-1 while Idabel finishes, 6-3. Spiro visits Adair next week. Adair won District 2A-8 with its only loss at Stigler in non-district play.
Arkoma won at Quinton, 32-24, in the regular season, but could not complete the sweep. The Mustangs finish 6-3 while Quinton advances at 8-3.
