OKLAHOMA CITY – George Burns is officially the State Senator for District 5 after being sworn into office in a scaled-down ceremony held at the State Capitol on Monday.
The oath of office was given in the Senate chamber in small groups to accommodate for COVID-19 safety protocols and ongoing Capitol construction projects.
The Pollard Republican started his career as a journeyman electrician and rose through the ranks to become part owner of a leading electrical engineering and construction firm. He’s also served as the president of a local electrical cooperative. Burns is an advocate for protecting religious freedoms, law enforcement, veterans and agriculturalists, and said he will champion rural schools and businesses at the Capitol.
