Rick West is going to represent LeFlore County as state representative again after he defeated Mike Sullivan in the General Election Tuesday in a big night for Republicans.
West, who served in the position in 2016 and 2017, was reelected easily over Sullivan, also a former state representative.
West, the Republican candidate, finished with 9,496 votes (69.2 percent) compared to 4,217 (30.7 percent) for the Democrat.
In the state senator race for District 5 in southern LeFlore County, Republican George Burns scored an easy win over Democrat Randy Coleman. Burns finished with 3,771 votes (79.5 percent) to 969 (20.4 percent).
LeFlore County was a big supporter for President Donald Trump. Trump received 15,199 votes (80.9 percent) while Democrat Joseph R. Biden received only 3,296 votes (17.5 percent).
