Obituary for Viola Sherburn

Viola Sherburn

COLLINSVILLE – Viola Lucille (Dodson) Sherburn, 92, of Collinsville, was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Bokoshe to Ben and Dona (Hale) Dodson and passed away Jan. 21, 2021 in Collinsville.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with Bro. Darrell Ritter officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Viola worked a number of jobs throughout the years including Westlock, Proto Tools and Zebco. She was a retired homemaker. Viola was a member of Dawson Freewill Baptist Church in Tulsa. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving family members are one daughter Glenna J. Taylor and husband David of Queen Creek, Arizona; one son Stacy D. Sherburn and wife Renee of Collinsville; three grandsons Aaron Taylor and wife Stephany of Vacaville, California, David Taylor and wife Amy of Mesa, Arizona, and Cody Sherburn and wife Laura of Fort Worth, Texas; one granddaughter Casey Sherburn and Michael Matzke of Dallas, Texas; two great-grandsons Austin Taylor and Dylan Taylor; two great-granddaughters Kayleigh and Chloe Sherburn; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends whom loved her very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Dona Dodson; a son, Steven Sherburn; two brothers Dale Dodson and Lewis Dodson; and two sisters Elsie Corbin and Bennie Dodson.

Pallbearers are Aaron Taylor, David Taylor, Cody Sherburn, Michael Matzke, Toby Vocque and Chad Ritter.

Viewing is 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to service time Monday at the funeral home.
